Golden Spike
|
Difficulty: 3 of 5
Miles: 8+ Golden Spike trail connects the Gemini Bridges area to Poison Spider. This trail is all slick rock and a great challenge on a dirt bike. Expect high ledges and deep drop offs through out this ride. In many technical spots there is usually an alternate route around it. You'll be riding your dirt bike on top of the plateau high above Hwy 191 (1300 ft above the road) overlooking Arches National Park. There are a couple of alternate trails on Golden Spike such as Rusty Nail. Directions: About 7 miles north of Moab park in the Gemini Bridges parking area to the west of Hwy 191. Follow Gemini Bridges RD for about 5 miles and take the left fork. From Poison Spider parking area ride the Poison Spider trail for 5 miles to the Golden Spike trail head. Suggestions: Start at either Gemini Bridges parking or Poison Spider parking and ride to the Golden Spike trail head. Ride the Golden Spike trail to the end then turn around and ride it in the opposite direction. Consider taking some of the alternate routes. Map:
