San Rafael Swell
Area info: The San Rafael Swell area is quite unique. There really is no place like it in all of Utah where you can ride your dirt bike or atv. The landscape is picturesque and absolutely breathtaking. Its trail system is similar to Moab but much more rough and challenging. Riding dirt bikes and ATVs in the San Rafael Swell will challenge any rider of any skill level. Famous is Five Miles of Hell, the most challenging single track dirt bike trails in Utah. This trail is popular with trials riders, mountain bikers or any one wanting to test their skills on a dirt bike. Camping is available all over the San Rafael area and near Five Miles of Hell as well. There are no services which makes Green River the nearest city with gas, food and lodging. Directions: Located off I-70 between Salina and Green River take exit 131 and head South on Temple Mtn Road. It almost immediately turns right and heads West. Follow Temple Mtn Road for 7.8 miles and turn left onto another dirt road and park in the coral. Suggestions: These dirt bike trails can be accessed almost year around. In the warmer months consider riding the Color Trails at night. The cooler temperatures at night make it possible to ride the San Rafael Swell in the middle of summer with good dirt bike lighting. We suggest Thumper Jockey lighting systems. They can be found HERE. Trails: Five Miles of Hell Color Trails Devil's Racetrack Complex |
Want to make dirt bike riding at night as much fun as mid day? Our favorite light is the Thumper Jockey MegaLight. It's small, brighter than most stock headlights and consumes half the power. Thumper Jockey makes some of the best off road LED lights for motorcycles. Dirt bike lighting is available for motocross bikes too.
